a 9 < x < 17 b 9 < x < 8 c 8 < x < 17 d 9 < x < 25
if x is one of the smaller sides then: \[\Large 8+x > 17\] if x is the biggest side then: \[\Large 8+17 > x\]
since, sum of any two sides of a triangle is bigger than the third side
so you get, x>9 and 25>x so, D
