In an isosceles trapezoid, two angles are labeled as shown. What is the value of x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (mertsj):

153+3x+15=180

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Answer choices: 3 4 23 46

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Well something is wrong then because opposite angles of an isosceles trapezoid are supplementary. So x = 2/3 and 3x+15= 17 so you have posted something incorrectly.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Idk, I copy and pasted?! Lol

OpenStudy (mertsj):

You copied and pasted the picture but not the answers or the question. Maybe you got the wrong list of answers or the wrong question for that picture.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, I just double checked.. :\

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Well then, you look it up. Aren't the opposite angles of an isosceles trapezoid supplementary?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Did you look it up?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I looked and it just confused me, a lot. None of the sites I just looked on are consistent with an answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nope, you're right. Indeed, supplementary.

OpenStudy (mertsj):

the opposite angles of an isosceles trapezoid are always supplementary, i.e.they sum to 180 degrees.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hm..

OpenStudy (mertsj):

So now we know that the equation is true: 153 + 3x+15 = 180 3x+168=180 3x=12 x=4

OpenStudy (mertsj):

I must have made a mistake when i solved it before. Sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Aha thank you so much!

OpenStudy (mertsj):
