A dehydrated patient needs a 6.1% saline IV. Unfortunately, the hospital only has bags of 5% and 7% saline solutions. How many liters of each of these solutions should be mixed together to yield 2 liters of the desired concentration?

I believe that a percentage of 3 bags total need to be combined to yield 2 bags of a 6.1% saline IV. 1.198% of the 7% saline solution combined with 0.792% of the 5% saline solution will result in 2 bags of 6.1% saline solution. The ratio is 5/9 parts per ltr of 7% saline solution with 4/9 parts of 5% saline solution.
