A theme is the central idea that underpins the story. Examples off the top of the head are greed, guilt or loneliness. However, I don't know the text myself so afraid I can't help you there! Hope that helps!

Talk around it. Identify the theme. Discuss the way in which the theme is presented and portayed in the text. Demonstrate an understanding of the different mechanisms used by the author.
