Two specimens made of two different materials are tested in an axial tension test by applying a force of F = 20 kN on each specimen (Figure Q4). Specimen 1 is an aluminium bar with elastic modulus E1 = 70 GN/m2 and a rectangular cross-section (1cm by 2cm). Specimen 2 is a steel rod with elastic modulus E2 = 200 GN/m2 and a circular cross-section (radius 1 cm). Calculate the tensile strain for each specimen (assuming the tensile stress in each specimen is below the proportionality limit).
