I need help as soon as possible. I only have these two questions left and I have no clue of what to do for them. I can figure them out on my own if someone can tell me the techniques of suspense are. The Necklace by Guy de Maupassant - What techniques does the author use to create suspense throughout the story? - What techniques does the author use to create a surprise ending?

OpenStudy (thurscon):

The author’s use of literary devices was very effective. De Maupassant used suspense throughout the story to hook the reader. • Will Mathilde go to dinner? • Will the Loisels find the necklace? De Maupassant uses symbolism and the irony of the surprise ending to give the story a social significance and depth that might otherwise be missing.

What literary devices did you use for the Will Mathilde go to dinner? Will the Loisels find the necklace?

OpenStudy (thurscon):

Those are the contributing events for suspense. Flashbacks are frequently used in literature as a literary technique to create suspense.
