factorx^4-17x^3+60x^2

OpenStudy (lalaly):

factor out the x^2 first can u do that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got (x^2-5) (x^2 -12) for an answer is that correct ?

OpenStudy (lalaly):

no x^2(x^2-17x+60) =x^2(x-12)(x+5)

OpenStudy (lalaly):

ur factoring when expanding u get x^4-17x^2+60 and thats not the same as ur equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just tried it again and got x^2(x-5)(x-12) . What am I doing wrong?

OpenStudy (lalaly):

u have x^2 common in all terms so just factor it out and then factorise

Thank you for the assistance.
