Are there any nice malware repositories out there, like a wiki where you visit nice pages with loads information about certain viruses and a download link for a file containing that particular virus?

Also, what precautions should I take?

:( I keep hearing about how folks are getting hacked left and right, Mac batteries exploding from viruses and how Windows is such an unsecure operating system, but I've had no luck getting any viruses from the internet :( Computer Virology is not for me
