How do you draw ethanoic acid?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The eth- prefix suggests a two carbon chain. The -anoic suffix suggests a carboxylic acid functional group (a double-bonded oxygen & a hydroxyl group attached to the same carbon atom). So you basically have a methyl group attached directly to a carboxylic acid functional group. Ok?

So one of the carbons would have an oxygen double bonded to it, and the same carbon would also have a hydroxyl group (OH) attached?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes

Thanks.
