x^3+27=0

OpenStudy (mertsj):

What are you supposed to do with it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

solve for x

OpenStudy (mertsj):

(x+3)(x^2-3x+9)=0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i was thinking the answer was \[\pm3\sqrt{3}i\] but idk

OpenStudy (mertsj):

one answer is -3 Use the quadratic formula to solve x^2-3x+9=0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

who where did you get (x+3)(x^2-3x+9)=0 from???

OpenStudy (mertsj):

I factored x^3+27. It is the sum of 2 cubes

OpenStudy (mertsj):

\[a^3+b^3=(a+b)(a^2-ab+b^2)\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok cool i didnt know you could do that!

OpenStudy (mertsj):

You must have missed school on the factoring days.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha this is our summer school homework for calculus so i dont know how to do some of it and/or the things in the packet, i did a long time ago

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Well, you're smart. You'll easily pick it up again.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ha thanks!
