Find the product, (10x-7)(4x+7) Im not sure what its asking to do first???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's asking to evaluate the expression (multiply it out)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

say (a+b)(c+d) = (ac + ad + bc + bd) can you do the same to this expression?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think so i will try it out.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i don't think that one works on this equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

easy. 10x times 4x which equals 40x^2. then you do 10x times 7 which equals 70x. then you do -7 times 4x which equals -28x. finally you do -7 times 7 which equals -49. 40x^2+70x-28x-49. you now subtract 70x and 28x (since they share x) getting 42x. your final answer should be 40x^2+42x-49

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It does. Multiply each term in the first bracket by earch term in the second

oh ok now it makes sense i did it wrong, thank you
