Trevor is tiling his bathroom floor, which has an area that is represented as 175r^5 square inches. Each tile has an area of √64r^17 . Use the given information to write and simplify an expression for the total number of tiles used.

@satellite73 Please help me solve this?

@.Sam. Please help?

sam (.sam.):

just divide (175r^5)/(√64r^17)

I hate to ask, because I'm not asking for answers or anything, but can you walk me through that? this is for a pretty important test I can't fail so I wanna make sure I do it right is all.

sam (.sam.):

basically you need "n" number of tiles to pave an area of 175r^5, that means we use the small tiles to build up a big tile but we don't know how many small tiles needed, so, We can build up an equation, the number of small tiles needed MUST be equal to the total number that we finally done building n(√64r^17)=175r^5 then divide both sides by (√64r^17). so, \[n=\frac{175r^5}{(√64r^{17})}\]

Ahh okay that helps a bit me. Thank you for the help I really appreciate it!

sam (.sam.):

no problem :)
