Explain why the triangle with side a=5, side b=6 and angle A = 65 degrees cannot exist.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

My teacher said something how the largest angle will have the longest side and the smallest angle will have the shortest side.

Do you have a calculator?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Calculate 6sin(65) =

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It does not exist because side A is shorter than 6sin(65)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know but how about without using the calc :$

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6sin(65) is what is needed to compare side a to to dtermine if there is a triangle solution. I don't know how to do this without calculating what 6sin(65) is. I am sorry I cannot answer your question.
