1. Which represents the type of sequence: -99, -96, -92, -87, -81, …? a. both arithmetic and geometric b. neither arithmetic nor geometric c. geometric d. arithmetic 2. A town has a population of 32,000 in the year 2002; 35,200 in the year 2003; 38,720 in the year 2004; and 42,592 in the year 2005. If this pattern continues, what will the population be in the year 2016? a. 100,430 b. 110,473 c. 121,520 d. 133,672
Please explain! :) I am super confused... :/
well look at the sequence and look for a pattern
like how did -99 get to -96?
i know the numbers went -3, -4, -5, -6, -7, etc... but i don't get what kind of sequence it is.... :/
well it cannot be arithmetic because arithmetic sequences require a common difference which is a constant and the sequence changes from +3 to +4 to +5 so that can't be it :) and it also cannot be a geometric sequence because there is no common ratio
so the answer would be B) neither arithmetic nor geometric
So would #1 be b. neither arithmetic nor geometric??
yes :D
What about #2?
well lets look for a pattern in the sequence |dw:1337926206899:dw|
