it's not a bug...it's got some techy explanation that @farmdawgnation told but is very complicated and not very layman friendly

The short explanation is that we don't store your last group on the server for very long. After you've been away for awhile, the site will forget what group you were in and one of your groups will be selected at random. That's all, really. :)

Cookies are stored in your browser, but that's not where we keep that information. If we did that, you'd end up in a different group on each of your various computers you use which is certainly not much better. The correct solution would be to persist that information in our database, but we do not do that.
