HELP , not sure what to do…….

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Step 1 Identify the dimensions and their values. The length of the rectangular prism is 6cm. The width is 2cm and the height is 3cm. - Okay I get this part…. Step 2 Plug the values into the equation. S = 2lw + 2lh + 2wh S = 2(6cm)(2cm) + 2(6cm)(3cm) + 2(2cm)(3cm) S = 160in2 + 240in2 + 192in2 S = 592in2 S = 2(12cm2) + 2(18cm2) + 2(6cm2) S = 24cm2 + 36cm2 + 12cm2 S = 72cm2 - This is where I get lost. When the numbers are plugged in , I’m not sure how 2(6cm)(2cm) turns into 160in2 do they multiply or what ???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the dimensions are 12, 8, 10. that's the length, width, height. idk where 6,2,3 are coming from... is this the full question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry i attached the wrong image..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha... now that makes more sense.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeaaah lol .-.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so this 3rd line you have up there is not supposed to be there: S = 160in2 + 240in2 + 192in2 S = 592in2 eliminate this ^^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so now what you have for S is your surface area of the rectangular prism

Ohhhhhh , okay thankyou (:
