So i have to help my brother with this Can someone explain to me step by step so I can teach him?? (Links in the comment) THANKS!
To find the equation of a line we must use a formula known as y=mx+b. b is the y-intercept meaning where the line crosses the y axis. m is known as slope and to find it we count the spots from one point in the line to the other. a shorter way of remembering it is Rise over run (rise/run). this means that we count how many spaces the line is going up or down first and then we count how many spaces it the line going left to right. Okay, first we pick 2 coordinates, i would choose (0,5) and (2,4). Now lets use rise over run. the line is going down by 1 (we know this because we went from 5 to 4 [5-4=1].) because it is going down, we say that it is -1. then we find the run which is 2. rise OVER run is -1/2. then we find the 'b' or y-intercept in which this case it is 5. Replace all this into the equation: y=mx+b... ---> y=(-1/2)x+5!
please post this in the mathematics section next time thank you
