Find f(g(x)) Find g(f(x)) what is the difference between those?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it depends on what f and g are.. if f and g are inverses of each other, there is no difference.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let f(x) = 3x+2 and g(x) = x2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

f(g(x)) = f(x^2) = 3x^2 + 2 g(f(x)) = g(3x+2) = can you simplify the second one so we can find the difference?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(2x+3)^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how i explain the difference?

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

see your last post also

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whata do you mean?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

f(g(x)) = f(x^2) = 3x^2 + 2 g(f(x)) = g(3x+2) = (2x+3)^2 = 4x^2 + 12x + 9 so to find the "difference" just subtract... :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can i ask one more thing?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Find the polynomial f(x) that has the roots of –3, 5 of multiplicity 2. Explain how you would verify the zeros of f(x). i dont know how to do this one
