since y = x^2 - 5 then plug it in for the other equation -3x+ y = -7 -3x+ (x^2 - 5) = -7 then it becomes x^2 -3x - 5 =-7 x^2-3x +2= 0 (x - 1) (x- 2) =0 x-1 = 0 or x-2=0 x=1 x=2

OpenStudy (nali):

to solve for y plug in x= 1 and then x=2 into y= x^2 -5
