A jar contains jelly beans that are red, yellow, blue, and purple. Several people reach in and grab handfuls of jelly beans, then collectively tally the number of each color: 15 red, 20 yellow, 12 blue, and 8 purple. If someone pulls out 22 jelly beans, about how many would you expect to be yellow?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Out of the beans that were pulled out , the total being 55, 20 were yello, also we don't know the total number of beans to begin with, we can call that amount "x". And out of "x" they pulled out 22 beans. So it seems like a ratio problem

If you can solve this for x, then you should get your answer: 20/55=x/22

your answer is most likely 8 I believe.
