Solve the system by the addition method: 2x-y=10 6x+4y=-8 This is what I get: 8x-4y=40 6x+4y=-8 14x=32 Of course when I try to divide these and solve for x I get some crazy decimal that isn't a solution at all.

I think your answer for x is actually correct. Leave it as a fraction 32/14=16/7. Now solve for y.

The fractions seem to have done the trick. I just was not thinking in terms of fractions. Thank you guys for all the help!! :)
