A square with a side of 20 is decreased to a side of 16. By how much is the diagonal decreased? s it just 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

when the side is 20 the diag length is 20 root 2 when the side is 16 the diag length is 16 root 2 therefore it has decreased by 4root 2 length

OpenStudy (maheshmeghwal9):

by Pythagoras theorem :- big square's diagonal=\[20\sqrt{2}\] small square's diagonal=\[16\sqrt{2}\]

OpenStudy (maheshmeghwal9):

now subtract them:- u will get \[4\sqrt{2}\]

o ok yeah i knew it wouldnt be as simple as 4 thank u
