You can prove that you have two similar triangles, triangle BDE is similar to triangle BAC as the three angles of each triangle are equal. Angle ABC = ABC as stated and Angles EDB and CAD are equal alternate interior angles, and angles DEB and ACB are equal for the same reason. with two similar triangles you can state the the ratios of the similar sides are equal.
