describe how the modern scientific method came about, noting major developments and the people who made those contributions. Give me bullet points of major developments and contributors in biology who made the biology what it is today.
LOL, are you asking other people to do a presentation for you? Share the keynote or power point if you got someone to answer this for you. There is no specific set of scientific methods even to this date. Though it starts from the unknown: curiosity about a phenomenon- an observation of the natural world, then a temporary explanation that CAN BE DISPROVED - hypothesis about that observation, testing and experimentation that can be duplicated by other people with curious minds, then establishing a theory. Biology, however, does not stand own. It stands alongside physics and chemistry. In my (peabrain) opinion, there are plenty of contributors, but the rockstars of 20th CE development are Watson and Crick. But if you want you can start from 17th CE, during the refinement of microscope in Robert Hooke's time; Taxonomy by Linnaeus in the 18th CE; data collection and inference by Darwin and Wallace, brilliant display of scientific experiment by Gregor Mendel, then development of organic chemistry pioneered by Wohler; bacteriology in the time of Koch and Pasteur - all in 19th CE; lastly, at the present time, Craig Venter comes to mind.
