What is your favorite work of art from the fourteenth century ?
The interior of Arena Chapel!
Gothic art was a style of Medieval art that developed in France out of Romanesque art in the mid-12th century, led by the concurrent development of Gothic architecture. It spread to all of Western Europe, but took over art more completely north of the Alps, never quite effacing more classical styles in Italy. In the late 14th century, the sophisticated court style of International Gothic developed. So i would probably go with something with Mary of Magdala in it
I could not have a favorite as there are so many notable things. I love the traceries in the windows of cathedrals and am in awe of the raw power that Michaelangelo captured in so many of his works, as winter comes on I find myself lingering over illuminations and font panels from churches and cathedrals but what brings me true delight is stumbling upon the odd little thing that shows there is really nothing new in the art world of today:: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-REDOFG1my4o/Tix-nDf-aFI/AAAAAAAARVE/owIPAss_Mis/s400/mementomori.JPG
