An automobile travels the 150-mile distance between two towns in 2 1/2 hours. An airplane travels 4 times as fast as the auto. What is the speed of the airplane in miles per hour?

OpenStudy (apoorvk):

so the speed for the automobile = distance travelled/time taken. You get the speed for the automobile. now 4 times that will be the speed of your plane. helps?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes..thank you

OpenStudy (apoorvk):

no worries :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[4\frac{150}{\frac{5}{2}}=240 \text{mph} \]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you
