How can a diabetic person lead a normal life?

OpenStudy (kayne):

I think that by having a healthy lifestyle including balanced diets, lots of physical exercise and stress-free environment; moderate sugar intake and other sweet products.. and by following the proper medication a diabetic person can lead a normal life.

OpenStudy (lanre):

Kayne, you said balanced diets, but specifically what food are good for diabetics.

OpenStudy (kayne):

I think food with high fibre content, low carb-food I think.. and lots of fruits and veggies.. Less meat..I know that yogurt is very beneficial to human health as well,..

OpenStudy (lanre):

Thanks.

OpenStudy (kayne):

You're welcome.

OpenStudy (blues):

Kayne is absolutely right: diabetics should eat a diet high in fiber and protein and low in sugar (most important) and *saturated* fats. The latter is important because high blood sugar damages the walls of the blood vessels and, if the diet is high in fat, that makes them especially susceptible to vascular diseases.
