(-1)^1 + (-1)^2 + (-1)^3 ..... + (-1)^124 =

(-1)^1 is just -1.
(-1)^2 is just 1
(-1)^3 is -1.

We see that odd powers are -1 and even powers are 1.
If you keep adding -1 and 1 and -1 and 1, then they all would cancel out and you'll be left with a ZILCH aka zero aka 0.
