Hi! Dont' you need to use the equation and make it equal to 180??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not really sure. I'm trying to figure out how to get it and the correct answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Answer will be 29

OpenStudy (anonymous):

HI! yea the answer is 29 cuz when you plug it in and add them together, they get 180.. SO yeah you just make it equal to 180 every time you get a problem like that. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Ashley10116 do you get it now??? But the answer is 29, do you need a better explanation?? or did you understand it off of what I said??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha and thanks for becoming my fan @Ashley10116 lol :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(3x-2)+(3x+8)=180 180 because some of two angles 3x-2+3x+8=180 6x+6=180 6(x+1)=180 x+1=180/6 x+1=30 x=30-1 x=29

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yup exactly what @shahzadjalbani or if you can't remember that, you can always plug the answer choices in manually and see which makes the equation equal 180, but if there are no answer choices, what @shahzadjalbani wrote is the best way haha and it is the more proper way lol @Ashley10116 hope that helps!

Ok, thanks! I plugged in those options for both problems and got 91, 101 - 85, 95 - 46, 56 - 40, 50. I was wondering if I could add two of those to get the answer. So I would add the 85 and 95. Thanks, guys!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you add both numbers for each equation and if it equals 180 (like 29 does when you plug it in) then that is your answer :) and no problem
