6) A firefighter is on the 5th floor of an office building. He needs to throw a rope into the window that is above him on the 7th floor. The function h = models how high above him he is able to throw a rope. If he needs to throw the rope 40 feet above him to reach this 7th floor window, will the rope get to the window? Explain. Hurry please. :)

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

I feel like you should have a function h that you didn't post?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No. That's the entire problem. That's all my teacher gave me.

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

So, double check the problem. It exactly says: “The function h = models how high above him he is able to throw a rope” ? There is nothing after the equals sign other than the word “models”?

CHECK THE QUESTION WITH UR FRIENDS U SHOULD HAVE THE FUNCTION

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

pkarthik, please don't use all caps. It gives the impression that you're shouting all the time :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okie i unfortunately used it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so in this instance the equation would look like this? 40=16t^2 +36t ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there isn't a function :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I tried solving by x^2+bx=c (completing the square)

OpenStudy (anonymous):
