before learn java and oop , what kind of programing knowledge we have?

I think just a procedural programming language like C language..In Procedural programming top to bottom approach is followed.By learning any basic language u can get an idea about the theme of programming and so one can learn any type of language oop-java

Stanford University uses Java in it's intro course "Programming Methodologies". They've added some libraries to it to make it less overhead code, but it IS Java and once the problems get complex enough, it is Object Oriented. Actually, IMO, it's a well balanced approach to OOP vs. procedural. Click on the Course link at http://see.stanford.edu
