I don't understand... :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Help please!

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

if you can prove similarity in the triangles the the ratios of the corresponding sides will be equal... similiarity Angle ABC = angle DAC ( both right angles) Angle BAC = angle ACD ( interior alternate angles in parallel lines Therefore Triangle ABC is similar to triangle DAC by Angle Angle Test now match the corresponding sides of the similar triangles Triangle ABC Triangle DAC AC = 7 DC AB = 4 AC = 7 in similar triangles the ratio of corresponding sides are equal then \[\frac{7}{4} = \frac{DC}{7}\] solve for DC \[DC = \frac{49}{4}\]

it would be nice if I could just get a simple answer because I'm running out of time to complete the assignment

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well simplify 49/4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

12.25

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that the answer??

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well its seems to work...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i wanna ask , 7/4=DC/7 not DC/AD why ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hmm, I'm thinking they are looking for a whole number

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

match the corresponding angles... is the 1st task before matching sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in my my mind it should be something like this |dw:1338324548200:dw|
