why was Islam able to appeal to people of so many different cultures?

Because the religion was not pushed onto the people all at once, the Islamic people allowed them to keep their culture and even parts of their own religion (if they had one) and gradually Islam took over. People who did not convert had to pay an extra taxes and were not full citizens. Islam made it so it was better for the people to convert but because they were not forced tt, and could keep parts of their own beliefs many people did convert.
