Can a 1300 watt DC motor be run controllerless without damaging the motor? Example: 2 12 volt 20 AH batteries are wired to provide 12 volts and 24 volts depending on the switch position. The motor drives a chain which turns a 12 inch diameter pneumatic bike wheel. Thus either one or both or neither of the batteries is connected to the motor circuit. Thereby, the operator, the bicyclist can charge one battery, while gliding downhill or braking, can use one or both batteries to roll, and can disconnect the motor completely from the batteries, as the operator sees fit.
