How do you use indicator colors to predict ph?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Indicators are solutions that are particularly pH sensitive. For example, phenolphthalein is often used to determine the transition point in acid-base titrations. In this case, an acid/phenolphthalein solution will be clear, but if enough base is added, the solution will turn a bright pink color. Another popular indicator is litmus paper, which itself changes color (red when in contact with acid, blue when in contact with base).
