Area of the region under 1+sinx from pi/6 to 5pi/6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

intigrate abs(1+sin x) from pi/6 to 5 pi/6 And you might wanna check for absolute values so i made it that just in case.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I did this, but I get a weird answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not the textbook one.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you used calculator to evaluate make sure you in radians.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

try it without the abs() and I get 3.826445

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you show steps?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well integral of 1-sin(x) is just x-cos(x) -a+cos(a)+b-cos(b) where a is starting value and b is final value

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay I did this: (5pi/5 - cos5pi/6) - (pi/6 - cospi/6) What am I doing wrong?
