OpenStudy (anonymous):

Whih of the following is NOT considered an intrinsic isolating mechanism? 1) gametic incompatibility 2) ecological isolation 3) geographical isolation 4) timing and courtship display 5) sterile offspring And can someone define what intrinsic isolation is?

OpenStudy (trancenova):

Okay so extrinsic isolation is isolation brought about from outside a population or by external means (eg. when two populations are separated by a mountain range). So intrinsic is from within the population that means that the populations cannot mate (eg. two populations can no-longer mate). Now knowing this, which option do you think is right? (feel free to ask if you are still confused, sometimes explanations only sound right in my head hehe).
