prove that work is a function of the path taken by a particle.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The area under P-V diagram gives us work of a thermodynamics process. If path of the process changes then area of P-v diagram also changes.hence the work will change. So, we can say that WORK is function of path & not of a point. I hope that u r happy with my answer.

Lol I don't think so that it is related to thermodynamics. It looks like he is asking for particle i.e. related to Quantum Mechanics. Regards, Read my Profile :)

Dear mr.Shayaan you need to read a book "thermodynamics an engineering approach" by Yunus A Cengel & Michael A Boles. Then you will understand what exactly thermodynamics is. :)

|dw:1339501058854:dw| .Consider your are taking a particle from A to C by two paths. First by A-B-C In this case the work done is area under the rectangle with its edges AB and the displacement axis. And if you take the particle by path 2 i.e. A-C. In this case work done will be the Area of trapezium. So you see that the area of trap is different from area of rectangle and you have to do more work for path A-C.

@nikheel Kindly don't say me to read books again. I am an electronics engineer. And I am gold medalist of the year from university in solid state physics, semiconductor physics, power electronics, electronic communication, quantum mechanics as well as in 3 more subjects. So I know what your answer is referrering to and what I wanted to say.. Thanks. I just wanted to help dear. :D
