Why do we study the cell and it's components?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because it's important to get how life is working and as the cell is the smallest unit of life, everything starts here. Also with the knowledge about cells, we know how cancer or tumors (might) work. The cells of the brain are also quite interesting and important to study not just because of alzheimer or Parkinson, but if we understand the cells, we might understand how those diseases work and can be prevented.

OpenStudy (lanre):

The cell is the basic unit and building block of all life. To better understand it is to better understand ourselves and all life on earth. We even gain a better understanding of basic organic compounds, viruses, prions, and any interaction of molecules that has to do with any biological process. check for more: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080815063944AAerGBO
