I think it might be beneficial to have some representation of grade or study level available, preferably in the hover-over user info window. I'm not sure if this is relevant for groups other than Mathematics (I only ever answer questions in Mathematics), but in math there are different approaches for answering a question based on the level of the student. For example, I don't want to reply to a student in his first year of algebra with a linear algebra method for solving a system of equations.
It would be even nicer if we could then somehow use this information to help with the SmartScore problem of differentiating between problems of varying difficulties. Perhaps some kind of tag system like used on other sites, where you can tag a problem as pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, etc?
Well that's a good idea but it also falls under "personal information". You can base an age off of a grade.
... we're not allowed to know each others' ages? That's kind of overcautious.
I like this idea, and nbouscal is right. When helping someone, it's often quite helpful to know the level of study they are at or the course they are in.
It's a possibility. We haven't figured out how we'd do something like this yet though.
