Simplify: Square root of -25 over (5-2i) + (1-4i)

OpenStudy (kainui):

What is giving you problems, how far can you get on your own?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know what to do after simplify the bottom portion.

OpenStudy (kainui):

Well, remember that the square root of -1 is i, so look at square root of -25 as square root of 25 times i. After you've simplified the bottom part you can factor out a 6, which leaves a 1 and i. Interestingly, i^0 is 1 so you can look at the bottom as being i^0-i^-1 which is under another i in the fraction, so you can now use exponent rules to combine all the is together.
