Give me your opinion? Talking about mean, median, mode, and range... why you think it will difficult for a person to accept the result when finding the mean of a set of data?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cuzz they prefer other statistical data. Maye they perefer the median, mode or STD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nobody prefers STD.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C'mon guys

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Right now we are talking about mean other kinds of average don't count.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Low sample size, perhaps. Significant outliers, maybe.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks smooth :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

My pleasure =D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Smooth can you give me a significant outlier example?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah.. especially low sample numbers.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What if I wanted to figure out the average speed of cars on a certain road and we took the data and got this: 25, 28, 23, 30, 20, 35, 25, 27, 29, 70 70 is ridiculously different from the rest of the numbers. It's an outlier.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

awesome, what about low sample size?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

think about it this way.. i take the average of only two people and say that's the average height form a bigger population... is that a good way to describe the population?

Thanks dpalnc. @Pedrojonson please use another post to release you frustation about other people.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

kk cuz he will give u bad anser

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well then give the right answer. Go ahead!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What about higher values balancing against the lower values?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Really depends on the circumstances.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

why you say that? give and example in which that would not be the case.
