calculate the surface area of the front T shape, the side that is facing us directly, and multiply that number by the depth or length of the figure. You go from a 2D area, to a 3D volume. or, simply do it piece by piece. There are two rectangles in a T shape. Calculate the volume of each via length*width*height, add together, viola.
