Which of the following statements by Mme. Loisel represents a fact? “Only I don’t have an evening dress and therefore I can’t go to that affair.” “It’s embarrassing not to have a jewel or a single gem—nothing to wear on my dress.” “There’s nothing more humiliating than to look poor among a lot of rich women.”
"Only I don't have an evening dress and therefore I can't go to that affair." This sentence states that she doesn't have an evening dress. Since she doesn't have anything to wear, she can't go. Thus, this sentence is not expressing an opinion that not everyone agrees with. The second sentence has the word 'embarrassing' in it. Not EVERYONE would be embarrassed in this case, so it is an opinion. The third sentence has the word 'humiliating' in it. Now EVERYONE would be humiliated by their appearance. (This is my best attempt at help, and I believe it is correct.)
