If the path of a diver diving from a diving board is given by the model: h = - 0.44t2 + 3.08t + 12 where the h represents the height of the diver at t seconds after she leaves the board. Find the time (in seconds) that it takes for her to reach the maximum height for the dive.

maximum can be found when the derivative is 0. since this equation is a negative parabola (there's a negative in front of t^2), we know there's only one maximum. h' = 2(-.44)t + 3.08 = 0. t = -3.08/-.88 is the answer.

simplified, of course
