-2V16 =-2V 8 * 2 =-2V 4 * 2 * 2 (There is two identical numbers, so you will take this pair outside, resulting in one 2.) =-2*2 V4 (Four is a perfect square.) =-2 *2 V2*2 (Again a pair, resulting in bringing it outside of the radical, leaving nothing under the radical.) = -2 * 2 *2 = -8 You multiplied the negative two and the positive two, then you brought the square of 4 = 2 out of the radical and then multiplied it to four.
