Solve this system of equations using substitution. Put your answer in ordered pair form, (x,y) 2x +6y=24 5x -2y=9
Here's your basic method for how to do a substitution problem like this. Pick your favorite equation and your favorite variable in that equation. Solve that equation for that variable. Now that you have that equation solved for that variable, use that to substitute into the OTHER equation. This will give you an equation with only one variable in it, so solve for that variable, and you will know what the value is for one of your variables! Since you know the value for one of your variables now, look back at either of your first two equations, substitute that value in, and solve for the other variable. Write your answer as an ordered pair and you're done! =D
