How does the currently accepted model of the nucleus provide evidence of the existence of the strong nuclear force?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm honestly not sure of this one.

OpenStudy (ujjwal):

The nucleus contain protons all concentrated at a place.. So, there should be electrostatic repulsion between them.. but yet they stay together.. It is the strong nuclear force which holds them together in spite of the electrostatic repulsion..
