find the inverse of the one to one funtion

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[f(x)=8/(5x+3)\]

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

let f(x) = y = 8/(5x+3) y(5x+3) = 8 5x+3 = 8/y find x in terms of y then replace x by the inverse function f(-1) x and y by x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so ould the answer b \[f^{-1} =8/(5x)-3/5\] be the anwser

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Simply swap out \(x\leftrightarrow f^{-1}(x)\) and \(f(x)\leftrightarrow x\) and solve for \(f^{-1}(x)\).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Also, just as a sidenote, this function is not one-to-one, as there is no \(x\) value that satisfies \(f(x)=0\).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(It does, however, have an inverse.)
