A physical change is just a change in a physical property. For instance, you can freeze water, but it's still the same chemical, water! You can rip a piece of paper, and it's still water! Now if you burn the paper, you can see that you're left with charcoal and smoke, and the fire is a highly exothermic chemical reaction!
